What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle form of hands-on healing. Rei-ki translates as Universal Life Energy. It opens your body to the gentle flow of healing energy. Reiki restores the natural flow and balance of life force energy. The feelings of physical and emotional distress clear naturally. The outcome is a feeling of serenity, calm, and renewed strength. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit.
What to expect:
Wear comfortable clothing since you will lie on a table. Reiki is applied through various hand placements on or just above the body through a light, non-intrusive touch. Energy flows from the practitioner’s hands, and most people report feelings of warmth or heat radiating from them. The practitioner often feels sensation in their hands and may be drawn to a particular area of the body where the flow is strongest in the moment.
Experiences with Reiki are unique to each person and to each session. A Reiki session may bring up deep emotional and spiritual issues, or it may simply bring the client to a feeling of relaxation and serenity. Many people describe themselves as feeling lighter and peaceful. Reiki also helps to cleanse the body of toxins. Drinking water after a session aids this process.
When time on the table is complete, the client is asked to awaken gently. Slowly opening eyes, stretching, breathing, and allowing their awareness to come back into the room before getting off the table. I like to leave a few minutes at the end of the session for questions and/or thoughts. A glass of water is advised and offered.
Reiki keeps working long after the session is over. Though many experience the benefits of Reiki immediately, others may find that its impact may take time to be fully realized.
